my dogs eyes.

since yesterday, i have notcied the constant build-up of this green puss-looking substance in the corner of my dogs eyes (the corner that meets the nose). I keep clearing it but more just accumulates.

I have also noted that both my dogs eyes are blood-shot (the left one more so than the right).

Any ideas of whats causing this?

Re: my dogs eyes.

I know my dog had something like this a couple years ago, can't remember what the vet said it was but while he was on his meds I kept him away from other dogs cause it was contagious. Good news it wasn't something that lasted long or too serious, just kinda gross to wipe his eyes. I remember it he had a lot of buildup too in the mornings.

Re: my dogs eyes.

See your vet first thing on Monday. Anything that is green is probably a bacterial infection that needs to be addressed by your vet. And in the meanwhile, be sure to wash your hands after touching the dog's eyes.

Re: my dogs eyes.

It's probably an eye infection... your dog will need eye drop meds from the vet.

With eyes, it's always best to get things inspected ASAP!

Re: my dogs eyes.

Get your dog to a vet ASAP, it sounds like an infection of some sort, could be Upper respiratory or the eyes themselves. Either way, it needs treatment and the sooner the better.

Re: my dogs eyes.

My mom's cat had a goopy eye (green goop), and it turned out to be an abcessed tooth. Yeah, vet visit for sure.

Re: my dogs eyes.

yeah, the vet said it was an infection (probably left over from the cold he had before).

She gave me a cream to put along the eye lid. Its a 2 man operation as he DOES NOT like his eyes being touched
