help tummy problems

My 5 month old cockapoo has worms and was given a dewormer almost a week ago. Now his stomach is all round and bloated and hard to touch. What is wrong with him?!

I think you should contact your vet.

Is it possible that he's just bloated because I have him locked up for the time being and he goes outside and does his business no problem and hes eating and running around and there seems to absolutely nothing wrong with him.

Re: help tummy problems

From your first post you obviously are concerned. No one here can tell you if your dog is fine or not. If you are the least bit worried you should call the vet.

I am worried because everything seems to be going wrong with him and I don't want anything to happen to him. He's my baby.

But On the other hand I don't wanna freak out over nothing. I'm going to call the vets in the morning

If you used OTC worm medicine I would be freaking out too. You described your pups stomach, as round, bloated and hard to touch. This is not normal, please see your vet! Better safe than sorry.

I didn't use over the counter meds I got them from the vet after his stool was tested

Did you call the vet? You may not have to go in, but I would at least talk to the vet about this.

was his stomach not bloated before? my new puppy had roundworms when i got him and had the "pot belly" which i've read is a cause of the worms. he has since been given interceptor and his stool is now getting normal and his belly is getting less bloated looking.

No his stomach was not bloated before my vet found it weird as well but I took him in today with a stool sample and they told me that the worms are all gone. So he's all good now. Going back in two weeks with another stool sample so double check.

Re: help tummy problems

Good. Glad to hear everything is okay. There is a lot of information to be obtained on any dog forum but no one can diagnose your dog. Whenever there is any health issue that concerns you, it is always best to contact your vet - for other dog related matters - this is a great place.
