Post Hunched over back, only sitting provides relief

4 days ago, our 10-year old spayed cockapoo started licking her butt a lot. She also started some weird behavior where she runs really really fast between rooms, with her back hunched over, until she can sit again. It seems she only gets relief when she's sitting or laying down. Also, after she poops (which she's been doing regularly), she spends extra time trying to poop even more. Like she's straining to get out even more. Thinking it was anal-gland related, we took her to the vet yesterday. He he said her anal glands look good (from a visual exam; no xrays). He's put her on an anti-inflamatory, but still no change in behavior. Any ideas?

Did the vet run any tests or take xrays? What was the vet's diagnoses?

I'd minimize her activity levels, bed rest be sure she doesn't do any jumping (too much shock to the back and joints) ect. Add some yogurt and canned pumkin (the pure pumpkin, not the pie mix) to her food as they will aid digestion and keep her regulated making it easier to go.

The vet didn't know what was wrong. He thought perhaps it was muscle-related, but wasn't sure. We're supposed to let the anti-inflammatories work for a few days, and then get back to him. At that point, xrays would be taken. I just thought by throwing these symptoms out on a forum might garner some responses from people whose dogs experienced similar symptoms.

Honestly, there are so many things that could be wrong most here wouldn't want to hazard a guess. Keep us updated on the diagnosis, it's alway easier to discuss known medical conditions and the possible treatments.

For now, as I stated before, lots of rest, little to no activity and ABSOLUTELY no jumping around.

Today I became convinced it is more localized to her tail. So I took her back in to the vet and expressed my opinion. After additional poking and prodding, the vet agreed that she might have sprained her tail or torn the cartilage. I'll report back after her course of anti-inflammatories.
