HELP? Hip injury?

My 8month old rotti girl is having trouble with her left hind hip, it started a couple of days ago, she was in the back yard, and yelped and was looking at her hind leg. I checked it out to see if she had stepped on something, all seemed to be okay, she did the same thing at the dog park 2 days later. Checked again, no tenderness, swelling, sore spot, cut, or puncture. I have recently recovered from a surgery myself and am getting back into training, and running with the dog. Normally we started out doing 2 miles a day, and last night moved it up to 3. She seemed to be in pain last night and had trouble walking... today when she tried to lay down on the floor she yelped again everytime she lay down. Help? any advice? I'm calling the vet to see what i should do? should i x ray?

Big dog hip issues

The vet is going to tell you that in order to x-ray the hips they will have to put her under. I'm sure you already know this but rotties can have hip issues. You are doing the right thing by calling the vet but you should let her rest and very short walks only 1/4 mile, she is still very young and long walks aren't good.

Not all dogs need to be sedated for x-rays. It depends on the dog and which x-rays are being done, and the veterinarian.

A through exam which will most likely will include x-rays would be the best thing to do. Do not exercise her until you see the vet.
