Mucas instead of poop?

Now I've got another situation, my 11 week old puppy wakes us up every 2-3 hours through the night to go out. For 3 weeks now, he's held it until we let him out. Last night every time my husband got to the kennel, he had already pooped. This happend 4 times last night. This morning, I let him out first thing and he had diarea. I then fed him and after playing for a few minutes after, took him out. Usually he'll poop right away but this time, instead of poop, I got a yellowish mucas. I waited an hour and took him out again. He tried to poop 3 different times but the only thing that came out was a clear/white mucas. Just a couple of drops each time. Do I have to worry? Should I take him to the vet? Or did he just eat something bad and it'll pass?

Yes, a vet trip is needed. I'd have to think from the sounds of it, he has a blockage somewhere. But...I could be wrong. Has he been out of sight from you? Chewed or eaten something he shouldn't?

Not to freak you out over what could possibly be nothing as serious, but to give you an idea of how serious it can be, a co-worker of mine's lab ate a small stone. It ended up lodged in his intestines and he had to get that section of his intestines taken out. His first symptoms were runny stools and mucus. Another friend of mine's Rottweiler had a piece of knuckle bone stuck, which eventually passed by itself, again, symptoms were similar. This is why i'm leaning towards thinking there is some kind of blockage.

At this point, you may have already taken him to a vet which is great and you will probably sleep beter for it.

Has this pup had a stool sample checked for intestinal parasites? That would be very important to have done.

Usually if the dog is eating and drinking and acting normal, you can put them on a bland diet for 3-4 days and that will probably get them back on track. Then you slowly switch back to the regular diet over a few days more. If the diarrhea doesn't stop within a couple days or if there is any vomiting, not eating, or lethargy, then the dog must see the vet immediately

A bland diet would be chicken and rice at a ratio of 1/4 to 1/3 chicken (canned white meat is fine) to 3/-4/ to 2/3 white rice (minute rice is fine).
Feed the same volume as their regular diet.
