Can anything be done about my boddy's legs?

I meant my buddy, sorry. He's an old timer, and I guess he's just gotten to the end but I was wondering if there's anything available now that might help a dog's legs when they go. It's his back legs, he seems to be in good shape otherwise, it really sucks. Her's a dalmatian, maybe 13 or so, In adopted a couple years ago not knowing exactly how old he was. Just thought I'd take a shot and see if there's anything new for extending the life when this happens. Thanks for any ideas.

You may want to print this out and ask your vet about it: http://greythealth.com/lumbosacral.htm

We've had one senior with LSS and the depo-medrol shots gave him pain-free movement again.

Please have him xrayed-you need to make sure that there is no inflammation or damage-considering sometimes it is hard to distinguish a happy smile from a smile of pain-byt this I mean-I have seen dogs have puppies and look as though they are smiling and happy-but are screaming in the process-it can be confusing.

X ray him to make sure no painful problems are there and if not, and he still has a quality of life, check into getting him a set of wheel! They will help him get along much better and easier.

I would google handicap devices for dog.

What we did for Bagiera was give her these kind of flat pills you can snap in half..About $1 for half a pill but it is worth it. She is around 12 (greater than for sure) and was having trouble moving around (light case of arthritis we believe) and asked the vet if there was anything we could do for her..Well, she prescribed us these pills..sorry, don't know the name of them and the bottle is up in Oregon with my dad and dogs, but you should ask your vet and google around.

Unless of course it is an actual issue with the back legs..Then I doubt these will help.

Anyway, these pills (just half a pill) cut her age in half and she is now able to jump in and out of the car again and keep up on walks. She is also more vibrant and like a puppy again.. Might be something to look into. But it IS a prescription, I know that much, so ask your vet before hand. But also definitely weed out any actual problems that might be affecting the back legs..Like deformation and such, you know?

Sorry I don't know the name of them
