What we did for Bagiera was give her these kind of flat pills you can snap in half..About $1 for half a pill

but it is worth it. She is around 12 (greater than for sure) and was having trouble moving around (light case of arthritis we believe) and asked the vet if there was anything we could do for her..Well, she prescribed us these pills..sorry, don't know the name of them and the bottle is up in Oregon with my dad and dogs, but you should ask your vet and google around.
Unless of course it is an actual issue with the back legs..Then I doubt these will help.
Anyway, these pills (just half a pill) cut her age in half and she is now able to jump in and out of the car again and keep up on walks. She is also more vibrant and like a puppy again.. Might be something to look into. But it IS a prescription, I know that much, so ask your vet before hand. But also definitely weed out any actual problems that might be affecting the back legs..Like deformation and such, you know?
Sorry I don't know the name of them
