please help i dont know what to do

hi im jess and i have a boston terrier named buster and he is about 5 years old. just recently, like yesterday, when my sister tried to pick him up, he would yelp. then when she patted his tummy area, he also yelped. he's been going to the bathroom well, and this all just started yesterday while i was at school. this morning, he didnt eat his breakfast and he seems a little lethargic, like he wasnt his usual hyper, happy go lucky self. he's walking slower, and he doesn't seem to want to jump onto or down from the sofa. my dad just patted him near his lower lower abdomen almost near his but, and he gave a little yelp and started shaking (he shakes a lot, but he looks very uncomfortable and scared, so i knew that really hurt him.) he is such a good natured dog and wouldn't hurt a fly, and it really seems like there's something wrong. my mom is refusing to take him to the vet right now, and so im trying to take a little action and find out whats going on with him, cause i love my dog so much and hate to see him hurt. please help me!

There is no way that we can tell what is wrong with your dog over the Internet. Your dog needs to see a vet to be examined.
