Advice on pup with broken leg?

We just adopted an 8 week old puppy who had one crushed rear leg when she was dropped off at the shelter, they said the previous owner gave no explanation, the other pup in the litter was fine. Her leg was mended and the vet was amazed at how quickly it was healing, but even though she can walk and run on it and seems to have no pain, it's appearance isn't normal. It's all bowed out and a little lumpy. They assured us that she would be just fine, but I can't help but wonder if this will pose any challenges to her or if her leg will eventually appear normal (somewhat, anyway?) Will she be able to excercise as much as my other dog, or will she always have to take it a little slow? Anyone have any experience owning a dog like this?
