Is this dog TRYING to send me to the poor house?

Ugh, my dad just came over to see the new lawn. (He thinks its pretty sweet by the way...) And when Chance was running around playing fetch my dad goes, "Is that a bump or lump under his eye?"

Upon further investigation it seems that either:

A. Chance went to school before I woke up and got into a fight with a bully.

B. Chance got bit by an ant (we have tons here and had an infestation on our back patio last night.(Dogs got an empty chicken ziploc out of the backyard garbage and left it on the patio=MILLIONS of ants.)

C. Chance got some sleep in his eye which severely irritated it, thus causing it to swell.

D. Kody headbutted him real good.

I am hoping for either B, C or D...but I think it could possibly be something else too. AT this point I don't believe it is related to his lip thing going on. Which looks a little better today. But now I have to keep a close eye on him some more. No pun intended.

From the top

His *normal* eye

His swollen eye

UGH- I'm going to be broke before I even get paid aren't I?

EDIT- gave him some benadryl like 15 minutes ago, I'm gonna shower and then see what it looks like and decide wha needs to be done. Just for a swollen eye, I don't THINK it's vet worthy though.

isn't that the same side he has his lip issue on? If it is I know i'd think it was related.

Well his lip issues cleared up mostly on that lip and he has it a little bit on the opposite side. Its just the beginning, and it looks a little raw, so my 99% posisitive opinion is when he is eating the chicken its just rubbing on his bottom lip like that. It was too coincidental with the ants last night to rush him anywhere just yet.

He always always always bugs ants when there is millions of them and then ends up swatting his face, I just think they got him good this time. Still keeping an eye on it though.

HA! I sould have pic'd it yesterday (but I was freakin' out and took him to the vet), the thing looked like a baseball stuck to his side. This morning it started oozing. Currently it has gone from 7cm x 6cm, to 3cm x 4cm. Once it's back down to size it's gone.

... and it's a bit more obvious, ¿right?

Wink Re: Is this dog TRYING to send me to the poor house?

at least the problems with your guy's dogs are on the outside!

My trips to the vet always involve bloodwork and xrays.

yeah thats not fun. Thats what they wanted to do when Chance had trouble walking AND when Kody swallowed glass. I declined both times, and SHOCKING my dogs are still alive! lol. But I can understand trips where bloodwork and x-rays are necessary!

Re: Is this dog TRYING to send me to the poor house?

Oh yeah, Coco had an eye thing a few weeks ago...

Still don't know what it was, just kept up with the eye meds and it went away. It was still a visit though.

ETA: It's where his right leg meets his body. It did this back in January when I punctured it with a comb. It blew up infected and drained over the next few days. Had all the tests done, and the consensus from two vets is a sebaceous cyst. It itches him every now and then, I think he rubbed on something to scratch and bada-bing.

hmm under his eye like that? Well with Chance being a punching bag lately, and him also needing his raibes shot.. we're going to the vet at 5pm. Just for a checkup and to keep an eye on his eye and lip.
