Need advice- Possibly hurt back

The night before last, Sammi wouldn't get up on the bed to go to sleep. She is not like this normally. She is normally all about sleeping with us.

Yesterday morning, I picked her up and put her on the be with me. She jumped down and yelped when she landed on the ground. (She weighs about 60 lbs, so it's not that big of a jump for her.) She progressively got worse yesterday, and at one point I was petting her on the back, and she yelped. She won't get up on furniture unless I put her up there. Once she lays down, it seems really hard for her to get back up.

She's only 10 months, so it's not age related.

I talked to our vet last night and he said she could have pulled a muscle, and just to keep her sedentary.

Has anyone else had a similar situation?

Nobody has replied, but I will update anyways.

Sammi was all good by Sunday afternoon when my husband got home.

We did very well all week, the this morning about 4am she jumped off the bed, whimpered when she landed, and went outside to potty, and wouldn't come back in. We finally got her in much later. She laid on the floor by the bed. When I was getting ready for work, I tried to get her up, but she wouldn't.

She is now laying on the couch, my husband coaxed her up there, and when I got home, all she did was wag her tail. I've got an appointment with the vet first thing in the morning.

I would have had her to the vet...not let him diagnose on the phone. Sorry to sound so harsh but dogs cannot tell us how they feel. Sammi has probably felt bad for a week and you are just now getting her to a vet. I hope it's nothing serious.

it could be a pulled muscle or it could be a sliped or bruised disc (bruised is more likly) but I'm no vet and I've never had a dog with a back problem so don't take my word for it. But I hope she feels better soon.

We immediately know if Sammi is feeling bad. She makes it very clear by being very inactive (and being part boxer that is very abnormal) and also whimpering when moving if it hurts. She was back to normal all week, but the Vet said he thinks she restrained the muscle.

Our vet gave us some Deremaxx as a pain killer, and I've been icing her back, and she is not moving around much at all, so hopefully by tomorrow we should be feeling much better.

Also, as I said, by sunday afternoon she was back to normal last week, and I'm not going to take her to the vet when she isn't in pain. It would be the equivalent of taking your car in, and it doesn't have the problem for the mechanic. It's darn near impossible to diagnose at that point.

My vet is also an hour away, so I prefer not to make an unnecessary trip, especially when the vet advised that it wasn't necessary at that point.
