dermatitis??? HELP!

so i went into the vet's office the other day and she said she suspected my new puppy of having dermatitis.

she said that because my puppy was missing a little spot of hair around her shoulder.

she just told me to look out for it and keep an eye on it.

well tonight i came home from work and she had all these swollen red bumps on her stomach.

is this a sign of dermatitis? what should i do? and is it contagious for other dogs and/or humans?

i have a 5 1/2 month old chihuahua/feist mix named Daisy.

btw- i just wanted to add...she doesnt show any signs of being in pain or like its affecting her at all really...im just worried about my baby!

Get a skin scrape done!!!! It's a cheap way to be sure a mange diagnosis isn't missed (happened to me).

Definitely get a skin scrape like Carla said. If the scrape comes back negative, then try www.calmcoat.com

If it is positive you caught it early and the treatment should not be too bad. Ivermectin is the most used and safe treatment for demodex.

Yes and ringworm should also be caught on the skin scrape.

Ringworm isn't diagnosed by a simple scraping. They have to prepare a culture and give it a couple of weeks to grow. But the culture will tell you exactly what kind for ringworm your dealing with.

But keep in mind that ringworm is contagious, even to people. Especially ones with a low immune system such as chidren or the elderly. I would be washing my hands after touching the dog until you know for sure what's going on. Better safe than sorry.
