Advice needed

I have a chocolate labrador he is 2 years old and is fully house trained.

He sleeps in the kitchen at night and is always let out for the loo before bedtime, my husband and i also work full time, i work shifts so there is 2 days a week where he left on his own for up to 8 hours i the day, however my mum pops in on theses days and lets him out and gives him his lunch.

He has known this routine since he has been a pup and nothings changed

the last week and a half he has started to poo and wee in the kitchen at bedtime and when im at work hes never done this before.

He is well and his normall self eating and drinking as normal. Why is he doing this?

Re: Advice needed

There are any number of things, some health issues some behavioral that can cause this. Remember that dogs often hide illnesses, so the first thing I'd do is have him checked by the vet. If all is truly clear there, I'd think about a behavioral evaluation by a certified behavoirist.

Re: Advice needed

Start with a vet visit just to safely rule out any underlying health issue that he may have.
Second, even though a dog has had a rountine forever they can change.
I once had a dog that was housebroken for 4 years. Suddenly for no explained reason he started peeing in the kitchen every chance he would get. Even when I caught him in the act he'd just smaile and walk away.

THAT was when I invested in a crate. The dog would then be crate trained. I never had a problem again. All my dogs are crate trained and have been crate trained from day one just about.

If they have the room, the will go and a kitchen is big enough for them to have room to go. One time, as an accident is all it takes for them to realize "Its not so bad to pee on the floor"

In a crate, there is no room to go off and pee without laying in it.

Good luck, once med is cleared, I would suggest trying crate training.
