Vomiting bile but WITH a healthy appetite.

I have read similar threads on here, but usually the dog is a fussy eater.
NOT my case. My 1+ yr. old Puggle has been vomiting bile for the last week. Mostly at 5:30 am. We feed him approximately 7am & 7pm. Been trying splitting his dinner in two and giving him the other half around 11pm. It has helped, but yesterday at 4pm he vomited again.

My question:
We have him on Wellness Core (for past 2+ months). Could the high protein/no grain diet be too "good" for him? Perhaps too rich? Perhaps digested too quickly through his stomach? But does the food make any sense since the only vomit is bile and not food?

Thanks.

Re: Vomiting bile but WITH a healthy appetite.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, I know this might sound strange but is there anyway he could be chewing or licking anything furry or with loose fibres excessively when he's alone at night? I only wonder as I knew a collie cross bitch who would regularly vomit bile and it turned out to be because she was preening her self so much that the hairs caught in her throat and made her retch and vomit bile.

If it seems to be affecting his health, a vet consult is always worth it! Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think that's his issue though. The vet said thought it was the empty stomach angle, and suggested 5mg of Pepcid AC at night. Before trying that I am switching his food in hopes that that does the trick. I'm weening him off the Wellness Core and putting him on Canidae lamb and rice. I'm hoping the one protein source and less overall protein will help.

Still open to suggestions.
