Possible Poisoning, please help.

My brother just called to say our Shih Tzu puppy (5 months) ate about 6 Ibuprofen tablets (200mg each). Although he was rushed to the animal emergency room pretty much as soon as the chewed open bottle was found on the floor, I'm still VERY worried/nervous.

Now, can anyone give me a break down please? Even though I feel better that he's being taken care of, I'd like to know as much about this as possible. There is a ton of conflicting information on the web, and I'm hoping to get more experienced, educated opinions about this type of unfortunate accident.

I'd just like to know what we're looking at here. What's the toxicity level(s)? How long does it take to become toxic or fatal? What's best and worst case scenario?

He's not a big dog so whats a lethal dose for his size and how long does it take? Do you think we might have saved him somehow by getting him to the vet on time? What can they do for him? What if my brother hadn't forgotten his wallet at home? Would it have been too late? Is he going to be okay??? Please help. I know these questions sound weird, but my mind/imagination is going CRAZY.

Talk to your vet about toxicity and the effects it may have on your pup...there are always updates..and our vet is the best resource, or the ASPCA POISON CONTROL CENTER:

EVERYONE should have this number on their fridge:

(888) 426-4435

It is the ASPCA Poison Control Center....well worth calling if you have any questions.
