Diet

I am looking for a good diet for my two miniature yorkies. I was feeding them both Purina, and the vet said that one of my dogs needs to gain weight and his coat isn't very shiny. He recommended that I start them both on Avoderm, which I did, and then my female developed a hot spot, so I put them back on purina, and I am trying to figure out a different high end dog food to start them on. They are both very tiny, and need small bite food. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Re: Diet

Canidae is a smaller kibble and is very high-quality. Solid Gold makes a small-breed food. I think Natural Balance might have a smaller kibble size formua....but I'm not positive. I don't know of any of the other high-quality brands that might have a smaller kibble size, hopefully someone else can help.

Re: Diet

Natural Balance does make a formula that is apparently designed for smaller breeds (it's really just a smaller size):

They make treats in smaller sizes, too.

Re: Diet

Blue Buffalo foods are excellent and are small kibble.

Try putting some flax meal in their food (once you upgrade ) and that will give them the extra omegas and fiber to help their coat become shiny.

Or fish oil...either one. But do change their food !
