Very worried

My wife and i took home a stray keeshound that my sister in law found in her neighboorhood because no one responded to the fliers she had put out
we brought her home last friday to live with us and our elkhound luckyboy
we instantly fell in love with her but my wife took her to the vet this morning to she if she had a chip and the vet said she had a growth in her bladder
which is why she has been urinating so frequently, now the serach is really on to locate her original owner whom ever they are but in the meantime i want to help her any way that i can we don't have the money to pay for a specialist and an operation that costs thousands of dollars now we are very sad and very worried about her i don't know what to do to save her.

too sad, to type any more....

Did the vet have any idea how old she is?

There is a blood test called a BTA (Bladder Tumor Antigen) that can tell if it is cancer or not. A blood test is easier than going right to surgery and doing a biopsy to find out. Easier on the dog, and cheaper.

In my experience, bladder cancer is not good, but to know the possible prognosis and possible treatments, you would need to see a veterinary oncologist.

Especially if she is younger, I would want to be sure this is cancer, and not a cyst or other strange abnormality before just deciding this is cancer.

What state do you live in? Please, PM me. I can help you get in contact with the KCA breed rescue.

I know that our breed club sticks its neck out for any lost keeshonden. Please, let me help.
