Please help, Has anyone ever had this problem?

I just got 2 sister german shep,mix from the SPCA today. They are very good and well mannered. I have noticed though that the one has a spot on the inside of her hind leg that is a round spot with 4 little holes in it that looks like a square. On the same leg but on the outside she has what looks to be a little gouge. The SPCA gave me an antibiotic and some sav but I don't know if that is enough. I would assume that she has been to the vet, but it seems to really be bothering her. My husband says it looks like the wound is from some sort of a gun but I am not really sure what it could be from. I would hate to think that someone would be so cruel. Should I take her to the vet now or wait to see if it clears up with meds?

It's hard to say what this is without seeing it. To be safe, you should probably have theeh vet look at it. Vets in shelters are many times very overwhelmed with all the animals they must care for, and may not be able to give individual attention. If the dogs are from an animal shelter, did they tell you about a free initial exam with a veterinarian? Most pounds offer that within the first few days or so.

What medication and what strength is it and what are the directions? How much does the dog weigh?
