| I'm very sorry to hear that, we just lost ours a few weeks ago from bone cancer. According to the vet about all we could do is prolong it a bit. He was 13, so we just kept him happy and took him in when he started to suffer. Tough, tough thing. I just got his ashes back yesterday. I wish I had better advice for you, sorry. |

| I am so very sorry to hear this. I am not familiar with this either. You may want to do a search for it and you may find a message board on it. I did when we found out Hank has Liver Disease.
Max is in the best hands he can be. With his family who loves him. Your comfort will be his best medicine.
My prayers are with you all. Hugs to Max for me. |

| Max-A-Million I'm sad to report that when Max fell down, he did in fact break his right rear leg, the one with the cancer and after watching him hobble on three legs for a few days, we decided that it was his time. Our vet, Margie was just excellent. She made the house call, we gathered around Max, I read the poem that I found on this site stopping after each vs to catch my breath and then she administered the drug. Max's cancer pain ended approx 5 seconds later. We all balled our eyes out but know deep down that we made the right decision for him. He's now in the "back forty" and my friend made Max a headstone. I want to thank you all for your kind thoughts, prayers and for this forum. May God bless...

| Steve: You and your family have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Max. It is the truest and best measure of the love you have for your dog, when you can push aside your own selfish desires to keep your pet with you and give the greatest gift you can ever give him, the gift of release from pain. I help people a lot in leading their best friends to the rainbow bridge, and it is never easy, but every time I do, I am always humbled and amazed by what profound bonds we share, and how unselfish real love can be. You are in my thoughts. I will light a candle this evening, in hopes that it will help light Max's way over the bridge, where he will be waiting faithfully for you to join him someday. Big hugs to your family.

| I lost my Golden, Murphy, to cancer. He was 5 yrs old. He was put down yesterday while I held him in my arms. Anyone who comes on this site and thinks that crying over your dog or wanting to keep his ashes is weird should be banned. This is my first post and maybe my last. That's the way I feel about dogs. |

| I lost my 7 year old German Shepherd to bone cancer about 4 weeks ago. She started limping and we brought her to the vet. She had bone cancer.
There are several things that you can do to pro-long her life but unfortunately that is it. My vet put her on some pain medicine and sent her home. I kept her on the medicine until she was no longer comfortable (which was only a few weeks). She had stop eating, refused to get out of her kennel and had trouble breathing. I said bye to Ginger. She was only 7 and that's what made it really hard.
Sorry for the bad news. |

| My St Bernard I am in tears reading about this. My St Bernard was recently dianosed with bone cancer and she is on pain meds right now. I am seriously thinking about amputation. She is eating well, still likes to play with my shephards and still likes to go for rides in the car. What are your thoughts on amputation? |

| We are so sorry to hear. We all feel for you. This is a very hard time for you all. Please stay w/ the group. Many people don't undertstand how we can be so attached to an "animal". But they become our children. Good luck to you all. |
