Antibiotic on Empty Stomach.

Sissy started throwing up again today...has done it twice. I fed her a bit of baby food mixed with rice, and I'm talking about a tablespoonful at about 10 a.m. I was very encouraged because she actually had an appetite. At 11:30, I mulched a 136 mg tablet of Baytril, dissolved it in water and fed it to her via syringe. She threw up about an hour later, then again in another hour or so.

The vet wanted me to bring her back in to the clinic if she vomited again, but my question is, isn't it logical to assume that the antibiotic will make her sick with little or nothing in her stomach?

Certainly you should at least discuss this with your vet. Baytril is a powerful drug, and some dogs have problems with it. It may be because of the empty stomach, but it could be because her stomach has a problem with that drug.

Talk to the vet, keep clear records also, of when she eats, when she is given her drug, and when she vomits. That will help the vet decide if its the drug or the empty stomach.
