Nose job??? what?

OK, so today Chloe had a check up in preparation for her spay on Friday. Everything is great, thankfully she has been a very healthy happy pup!

The vet did mention that her nostrils seem on the "smaller" side for a pug. She said it is nothing to worry about now, and may never cause a problem. But she said they can open up the nostrils a bit and if I wanted to do it, they'll do it while she's under for her spay.

I was like, a nose job??? I have never heard of that! Yes, I researched pug before deciding on the breed and I know they are known to have breathing problems. I just had no idea that's how they fixed it. I told the vet I will wait on it as I wanted to talk to her breeder first - not to mention I was kind of afraid to ask how much this would cost (yes, I would do anything for Chloe, but the spay is $430 and I wanted to space out big spending if it isn't necessary)!

So, I had a long conversation with her breeder (who has kept in contact with me and is always there if I need her) and she said none of her puppies has ever had this, and to wait.

Has anyone heard of this? Anyone been through it? How did your dog do?

Re: Nose job??? what?

It's called a nose clip and it helps the dog to breath better. The younger it's done the more it will help, it's kinda like corrected a deviated septum, so yeah I guess you could call it a nose job in that sense. You just won't see the 'cosmetic' side.

My guy had it done as a small pup before I got him.
