Shoulder pain?? I think...

Lucy is almost 8 years old. She's a medium-sized GSD mix, weighs about 40lbs. She is very acrobatic when playing fetch, jumping, twisting, etc.

In the past couple of months, she's been slowing a bit. But, we are also noticing that she seems sensitive about her shoulder-area. If we are drying her off, or if DH is rough-housing with her, sometimes she'll yelp if her fore-quarters are rubbed or grabbed. It's hard to tell in those instances just what it was that made her yelp, what particular area it was.

She doesn't limp, but she is stiff upon rising sometimes. I worry that it could be a spinal thing, given her feats of acrobatic displays. Maybe shoulder arthritis? Something else?

Can you tell me some signs to look for to help further isolate it? I'm making an appointment for the vet, but I like to go in with as much info and description as possible.
