| Will this pregnant female be okay? I hope I dont get any hate male from this because it was honestly completely a mistake and not something we meant to have happen.
I have a Sheltie that I rescued about a month ago. He's been a great dog. He came to me because the man that owned him ended up bedridden due to illness and he had gottent he dog as a pup, and he didnt feel it was fair to the dog to keep him inside all the time. So I took him in. He's up to date on all of his shots but he wasnt fixed yet, so the first thing I did was make him an apt at the vet to prepare him to get fixed. He had that apt last week, and he has an apt to be neutered in mid April. He's going to be a year old next week.
My sister has a Min pin. She lives next door to me. She isnt fixed either. I cant say that I agree with this but my sister has been told that she should wait until her dog is 2 before she gets her fixed by her mother in law, and her mother in law is the one that gave her the dog. Well this is what happens when you decide to wait for stuff like this to happen. Her min pin is about a year and a half.
I have a penned in yard in back of my house, and thats where my dog was yesterday morning. My sister's min pin somehow escaped from her house and I found her in my back yard with my boy, and they were doing the deed. I dont know for how long but my dog was outside for only about 15-20 min. I dont like to leave him out any longer than that since it's still not really super warm out yet. I'm assuming that since I caught them in the act that its very possible that she could be pregnant from this though. My sister has made an apt with her vet, but what our main concern is right now is IF she is pregnant, can she handle having these pups? She is a very small min pin, probably only weighing in at about 6 or 7 lbs, and my sheltie is small but still bigger than her at 19 lbs. She really cant stand the thought of aborting her litter but she doesnt want to put the mother at risk either. |

There's no way of predicting in advance exactly how large the pups will be; but the odds are huge that they will far too big for the dog to deliver without creating a life threatening situation and resultant c-section. The pups would most likely die from an attempt at a prolonged delivery too.
Why put any dog through that when she's already planning to have her spayed?
If she has her spayed right away, it will not be an abortion but just a simple spay. |

| Re: Will this pregnant female be okay? SPAY NOW!!!! I don't think a Min Pin would survive this. Not spaying wil lrisk the life of the mother as well as the pups. |
