| Beagle sometimes throws up at night I have a 6 month old Beagle. Occasionally (once every 2 weeks or so) he will wake up at night and throw up what looks like stomach acid basically. Some white/clear liquid.
He does not act sick at all, and immediately is ready to go back to sleep or play. He eats his food..every morsel, every day. I am feeding him 1.5 cups of Wellness Puppy formula twice a day.
Is he getting hungry or something at night? His last feeding is around 6:30 PM, and I feed him around 6:30 am.
Thoughts or suggestions on this?
Thanks in advance. |

In any case, a misunderstanding.
Have you considered consulting a vet? |

Have you considered consulting a vet? | Sigh.
Have you ever heard of this or not? |

He did this on Purina One as well before I switched to Wellness. |

| Re: Beagle sometimes throws up at night My first dog would do this when she was younger. It always happened if she missed a meal, or we didn't feed her on time. I think it may have had something to do with low blood sugar, or high stomach acid. The vet didn't have any ideas about what it may have been. We just fed her more often, and made sure she didn't skip any meals. You might want to give your pup a small snack right before bed. To prevent him from gaining weight, you can hold some out of his regular meal and feed that to him later on. Like, give him 1/2 cup for dinner, and 1/4 cup right before bed. That should help if his problem is the same as Willow's. |

| Re: Beagle sometimes throws up at night I agree. My dogs will often regurgitate a bit of yellow stomach bile early in the morning if dinner wasvery early the night before, or their breakfast is late. I would also, as above, try holding back a bit of the PM meal and feed it right before bed. |

| Re: Beagle sometimes throws up at night I had this problem. We call it "empty tummy syndrome". I feed my dogs a couple of small biscuits late at night just before their bedtime. Or as previously suggested you could use a little bit of left over dinner. No more morning vomits. I hope this helps. If it continues though, please consult with your vet. |

| Re: Beagle sometimes throws up at night Thank you all for the advice. I am convinced that it has something to do with being hungry. I will either feed him a few dog biscuits right before bed or hold back some food as suggested. That should take care of it and if not, I will take him back to the vet. |

First of all, do I look like a medical professional who possesses psychic powers of diagnosis or not?
Second of all, I wasn't telling you off for not seeing a vet, I was merely asking if you had, since nothing in your first post suggested anything. Sometimes a vet's opinion helps, but sometimes it also doesn't, so it's entirely possible that you'd been to the vet's about this and back with no answers.
No need to be so rude. |
