Limping and yelping in pain

Hey all. I have a Chow Chow mixed with Roughtweiler and he is the the most amazing dog ever. He is currently 12 years old already though and he is starting to get old =(. Which is very sad to me because all these 12 years he has been so active and energetic.

About a week ago i started noticing a sadness in him. He wasnt as happy to see me or my family come in the door. He looked more beat up than usual ( even at 12 years old he looked as if he was 3) and he seemed more down. Always laying around and just starting to mind his own buisness. Last night as i came home from work i started giving him the usual pat downs and rubbings and little playful pushes that i always give him when i come in the door, but when i touched his right side he just YELPED and screamed in pain. I touched him softly and i noticed a bit of swelling on his right side that seems to be centered directly under the join that connects his right front leg directly to his body. I think it might be a fracture since he is limping around and not putting much weight on that leg. Im afraid it might even be a cancerous growth in there or some kind of thing that creates a bit of bloating.

Any ideas what it might be guys? We're taking him to a vet tonight

Re: Limping and yelping in pain

I don't mean any unkindness, but if I suspected a fracture, I'd be at the emergency vet long before I'd register on an Internet forum looking for answers from strangers who have never seen your dog and, for the most part, have no medical training at all.

For your own protection (there will be less gentle responses) I am closing this thread.
