Question Pancreas GONE??

My mixed breed rescue dog started to have severe diarreah. She was treated initially for worms. She then had a stool sample and had no worms but the vet felt she had a bacterial infection and treated her with a new med. 3 weeks later she is losing weight and has severe diarreah. An Xray revealed probs so he opened her up and found her pancreas was GONE accept a small enough piece to produce insulin. She now takes an enzyme daily for life and is on a diet. The thing is, I do not know what diet to put her on? We live in the Caribbean so can only get canned Dutch pet food (low fat) and Pedigree. So far I have been feeding her rice and ground chicken since surgery last week. Any tips for foods I can buy at the people store or is Pedigree ok?? Thanks so much.

BTW, how does a pancreas dissappear??

Re: Pancreas GONE??

You are doing the right thing by feeding her chicken and rice! Commercial dog food has many horrible chemicals in it that can build up in the dogs system over time. By giving her real meat, vegetables and rice she will be much healthier and happier.
