Exclamation Urgent Need Help!!!

I have an eight year old Regal Sharpie named Lexie. She is a very happy and healthy dog with the energy of a puppy, but recently she has had very mysterious symptoms. She had pyometra after our other dog Shiloh died but got better and has been happy ever since. Then a few weeks ago she became very lethargic and had tremors. We took her to the Vet and he just gave her a steroid shot and a week of antibiotics. Though the tremors stopped, she didn't get any better and started having a slightly extended belly, (up more towards her lungs as though it was her liver) weakness and muscle loss, redistribution of fat, a slim face, stiff joints, licking the inside of her mouth, (she looks like she's chewing when she's not) excessive shedding, and staring off into space. She is eating, drinking, and urinating normally, though we haven't seen her do much else in the waste department. She went back to the Vet and he tested her for tick fever, Lyme disease, and Heart Worms but she tested negative. He gave her a different steroid shot and a different anti-biotic and told us to bring her back in a week if she hasn't gotten any better so she could stay there for a few days while they take test. I would hate to pay thousands of dollars only to put her through the stress of being alone in a strange place and hate having to wait a week when doesn't seem to be getting better and even slightly worse. I would love to find a natural way to help her but I'm just looking for any advice at all. Thank you very much for your time!

Have you tried getting a second opinion?

Re: Urgent Need Help!!!

Since she had pyometra, was she spayed? She is obviously not getting well on her own and it sounds like there something very wrong. At this point I don't think there is a "natural" way to help her, she needs medical care. What kind of tests is the vet talking about that she has to stay at their clinic?

I second the suggestion of a second opinion and please do so ASAP.

Unhappy Re: Urgent Need Help!!!

Yes she has been spayed, actually when they spayed her her uterus was so filled with pus that it was huge and looked like an alien! We are looking into other Vets but want to make sure we find one we like since we have had some very bad experiences Vets in the past. We will get her in as soon as possible but I would hate to put her on medication that only made her worse. We found a natural herbal remedy that is good for almost any disease and will try that as well. I just mainly don't want her to be on pills or shots that give her tons of side effects. My biggest concern is that we have absolutely NO idea what it could be. We have looked into and ruled out a few diseases but are totally lost at what it is.
