Could this be a sign of a future hip problem?

I have an 8 month old Great Pyrenees ... when she sits down in front of you.. she tends to position herself where she tends to sit more on one side of her body than the other.. she doesn't sit where both legs stick out on each side equally.. When she runs.. she doesn't have the whole bunny feet thing happening..

My Pek with lay on the ground with his hind legs sticking out like a frog.. but with a giant breed dog.. just wasn't sure what to look for in terms of hip health.

I'm not really worried or anything to that nature so I don't plan on taking her to the vet to get x-rayed.. I am just more curious if there are any generals signs out there for hip dysplasia.

Re: Could this be a sign of a future hip problem?

I have 2 Great Pyrenees. They always tear up their doggie beds, so I was not able to crate with bedding. I noticed my rescue pyr (Loki) would get stiff in the hips after being crated for 4+ hours. I added carpeting for him which he hasn't tore up and now he doesn't act 'stiff'. Many dogs will sit and lean to one side or the other. Loki also will lay 'frog' legged.
Here's a picture of Loki sitting with his rear leg stretched out.

As a puppy Denali - my other pyr, would always lay frog legged. It could be something as simple as the way your pyr is growing as well. If you're able, try to gently rotate your pyr's leg and see if she fusses about it. You don't really want to have your pyr's hips x-rayed until she is at least 2yrs old

Ok, I was looking through pics of Denali when she was a puppy. She seemed to favor one side over the other a little bit, but she's always sat kinda funny - she sits on her butt.
