Heart Murmur-Coughing?

I have this stray, I have posted pictures of several times, named Eb. She, we *think*, in fact due to a run-in with some people are like 95% sure she is German Shorthair Pointer x Weim x Lab-therefore she's thin. She's also VERY active and doesn't eat a whole ton. She's probably 2-3 years old.

Well, lately, like the last 3 weeks maybe she'll occasionally get this light cough, like she's got something stuck in her throat. My roommate mentioned this morning that that is due to a heart murmur. How likely is this...and is it a bad thing?

Also, I'm skimming stuff on heart murmur's right now and it says when they have cardiac disease they are thin and have a soft cough.

Re: Heart Murmur-Coughing?

a soft cough could be caused by a number of things. cardiac disease is certainly one of them. there could be something caught in her throat, among other things. also since she is a stray, she could be 3 years old or 13. a trip to the vet and some chest radiographs are in order, as there are many ways to treat things like this.
