| Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? Ive got an 9 week old sheltie in Maryland...which of the above should I be using?
Advantix is the only repellent of the three, correct? Is it just based on personal preference? |

| Re: Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? I prefer Advantage for fleas. Frontline if you have to worry about fleas AND ticks. Never used Advantix. |

| Re: Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? I use Advantage Multi, Which does the fleas and heartworm treatment.
I kinda wanted to get something that does ticks because in my parents area there are a lot of them, but i heard that Avantix doens't actaully repel the ticks have to bite then they die?
Is that true? |

| Re: Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? The active ingredient in Advantix is toxic to cats. My cats don't go near my dog, so it's not an issue for me, but some peoples' cats will groom the dog, and that could be dangerous.
Be careful with herding breed dogs and Advantage Multi. Some are sensitive to the Ivermectin. |

| Re: Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? That's kinda of Scary about the Avantage Multi and Herding dogs. I looked it up and on Wiki it said only said Collies and Related Breeds.
My Vet recommended the Multi, so i think i'm good. kinda scary though.. |

| Re: Advantix, Advantage, or Frontline Plus? I've had better luck with Advantage than Frontline, but here in FL, I swear the fleas are not responding to the Advantage as before (my vet is seeing this as well).
I decided to go with food grade Diatomaceous Earth. Taken internally and also used to lightly dust carpeting, pet bedding, and the pets, themselves. Some of the benefits of food grade diatomaceous earth are:
Natural wormer - eliminates many parasites w/out chemicals
Safe, non-toxic, parasites don't build immunity as do with traditional
15 trace minerals - great for animals, humans, plants, and soil
Helps detox heavy metals, ecoli, bacteria, viruses
Promotes shinier coats
Digestive aid
Colon cleanser
Reduces fecal odor |
