Wow, ease up there. So this person is happy about her dog getting ready to give birth to puppies. It's a happy occasion. Not sure how that's hurting you. I don't know if you have any clue under what circumstances this happened, maybe it was planned, maybe they have buyers lined up for the puppies. Before going off the deep end you might want to try having all the information.

I believe we have to educate people about breeding issues and overpopulation, but it is rude to just jump on people like this! Perhaps it was an accident, perhaps not and the person needs to be educated. When you attack like that it just puts thier defences up and they don't stick around t be educated.

sorry, but if this was an accidental mating it should never have happened and if it was an intended breeding it should never have happened......if i had a mutt dog that someone (or many someones) said they really wanted a puppy from i'd tell them to go to the HS and find one there......i still stand by what i said (ok, maybe i was a bit harsh, but who's gonna stand up for these pups when the last day comes b/c nobody wants them?)......

i have a BC bitch that, so far, all has checked out great on......her hips and elbows are good, her working instinct is good (tho i don't have the sheep to work her on, she has been tried, and she is now "goosing") and i have 5 pups already spoken for......but i'm still considering having her spayed......

I have had internet server problems for 2 days but the last message I tried to get off just before I "died" was a message of support for Tirluc. It didn't go so here is in essence what I had said.

I know Tirluc is a dog lover and does not wish harm for these babies nor to Blue. She was just voicing the same frustration I had felt, when I saw that in spite of all our talking and trying to educate people about irresponsible or ignorant breeding, it still goes on.

Sometimes people just don't want to be educated. I personally fail to believe that in this day and age, people don't know about the obscenity of the pounds and shelters.

I say to the above posters, why not go and spend just one day visiting the pounds and shelters in your immediate area. Look into the eyes of the dogs that hopefully clambour for you to pick them, the desperate, desperate eyes. Remember that for the majority of the dogs you have seen in that day, the end result will be death because there are simply not enough homes for all the mixed breed dogs that are being produced. Doesn't matter that they are sweet, or puppies, or gentle or desperate... they are going to die. Then tell me to not be rude or passionate about this issue.

I do believe this is a forum for dog/animal lovers to come to share pet ownership joys, experiences and seek out support. If you are as passionate as you sound about educating the public I would urge you to seek a more public venue as popping off message insults one at a time does not educate the masses; it only irritates the happy owner and makes them not want to come back. Possibly think of providing the guidance or feedback they are looking for and just include a link about issues you are passionate about.

Congratulations on your new puppies.

I look at those shelters all the time as I do Mastiff rescue. I've had to refuse dogs and reccomend that dogs be euthinized due to extreme behavioral problems or health problems we couldn't fix. We have4-5 week old puppies smuggled over the border here and sold at 'swap meets' to add to the pupplymill and BYB problem. The fact is that being 'rude' will not help the problem, it's a turn off to people. showing people what they are doing and presenting facts will do far more.

Here are two of the dogs I've pulled and put into rescue

Angel, a DDB pup that was abandoned and fortunatly picked up by animal services. She had to be put down because her Demodenic mange was so severe that it interfered with the surery she needed for blown tendons. She was 8 wks in this picture, she was put down at 12 weeks.

Sampson. His people put outside on concrete because they 'didn't know he was going to get so big. They relinquished him in lue of medical treatment. He was full of tapeworms and had sores and was 40# underweight. He's now in a loving home

When I used the term rude, what I meant, was, to some people, even posting a negative sounds rude. They don't want to hear what they don't want to hear, so they call everything else rude. I insist that this is a public forum, its actually a very good way to get out the message, I think I state my beliefs clearly. I will not condone irresponsible breeding no matter what its called and I am sure some people think that is rude. I personally don't. I think its being realistic and hopefully giving people something to think about for the future. I don't think everything should necessarily be sugar coated, passion of feeling is not necessarily evil.
