Question swollen male genitals

Hello everyone. I plan to call my vet first thing tomorrow, but just thought I would ask here first.

Our male Staffordshire, Ripley, has been sick a lot recently from allergic reactions, a reaction to antibiotics, to recently losing 4 lbs in two weeks. He was at the vet last week for the weight loss, which we are now monitoring.

Today we notice one that his penis has been out a lot, and also appears to be swollen and purple, rather than the usual pink. when is it in the area there is hard and appears to be somewhat bulging, although, I can't say I have studied this before and know if it is always this way.

Could this be related to the weight loss? any ideas on what could cause the swelling? Also, he was fixed before we got him. We adopted him last June and he is apprx. 2 1/2 years old. Thanks!

Re: swollen male genitals

We're not going to be able to help you. Your best bet is to call your local emergency vet.

Good luck!
