Unhappy Sick new puppy

We got our 9 week old shepherd/shar pei mix from a rescue on Tuesday. She had kennel cough and was given antibiotics which cleared up the cough. She was very lethargic. On Thursday the vet questioned whether the pup had a diaphragmatic hernia, but was waiting to see since the pup was eating and going to the bathroom normally. The vet told us to give her chicken broth to pep her up which seemed to work. However, her last meal was yesterday at 1:30 and she has been sleeping all the time since then -- even slept through the night. She is going to the bathroom, but only has had a little chicken broth in the last 20 hours. Her cough has returned. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with her and what we should do?

Re: Sick new puppy

Puppies sleep alot, mine slept for a large portion of the day only to get up and eat, drink and try to pee on the floor before I could get him outside. If your are concerned I'd call your vet and ask for his opinion.

Re: Sick new puppy

No one on this forum is qualified to give you any veterinary advice. Please call the vet who is treating your puppy and express you continuing concerns. If your vet is not available their should be after-hours info on the answering machine. Or contact an ER vet in your area.
