| This is a dog who needs her anal gland expressed. You may want to talk to your vet or groomer about this. The gland is naturally expressed when she does her business, but it can become impacted for unknown reasons, and everything you've described is a syptom of this. But yes, it's quite common for this to happen during a car ride, or anytime the dog may be a little uncomfortable. Usually, panting or looking at her rear are signals that she may be a little uncomfortable. Her diet may also be a contributing factor...especially if her stool is not stiff.
