Does dog have infection or just maturity?

Hi, I've noticed for the last couple of weeks, my one year old Chihauhau / German Shepard Mix neutered boy dog has a creamy-ness at the end of his "private" on and off thru out the day. He does not hump, and urinates just fine. Do you think he has an infection or is this just a sign of maturity? I've only had girl dogs in the past so Im not sure.

Male dogs I have had did not have signs of maturity. I would see the vet for this.

its worth having a vet look at it though just to make sure

I would definitely do a vet check, but, like Shalva, I have seen this sort of discharge on my boy and he is fixed. According to my vet, male dogs are always producing a bit of fluid between the fuzzy outer sheath of the penis and the smooth, pink shaft inside. The purpose of the fluid is, of course, to lubricate the penis in the event that it is going to be used. Sometimes a bit of that fluid leaks out and sometimes a dog overproduces it for no particular reason.

good to know that it is not just an intact male thing.... I only have intact boys so it was hard to generalize it to neutered males as well.... thats a good thing to know.
thanks

Re: Does dog have infection or just maturity?

We just got back from the vet.....you guys were right, she said male dogs are always producing fluid.....he just has a little too much of it, they did a urine culture too make sure there is no infection, the results will be in this saturday or monday......they advised me to clean him with baby wipes every couple of days to make sure its ok and cleaned out.....for some reason hes producing a lot of it the last couple of weeks. Thanks again for your advise!
