Ouchy back leg

My little Griff somehow hurt his right hind leg on Monday while playing with his new puppy. I can flex it just fine without him crying or pulling away and he will walk, run and play on it most of the time as well.

It seems like occasionally, he'll tweak it and then start crying and not wanting to put weight on it. When I try to approach him when it's "ouchy," he'll get upset (understandable). I'm thinking it's just muscular and will work itself within a few days.

If he's still iffy on it after the weekend, I'll probably take him in to the vet. I'm not asking for a diagnosis, more of a "what would you do if you were me" question.

Re: Ouchy back leg

Have you checked the toenails thoroughly, to be sure that he didn't snag one and rip it from the nail bed or break it close to the quick?
It might be an ACL injury. (Knee ligament). You're doing the right thing to take him to the vet.

I would do what you're doing. Give it a couple of days and if it doesn't get better take him in. My Joey hurt his leg playing a few months ago - it hurt him for a couple of days and then he was fine, thank God.

Shalva will become famous soon enough
Re: Ouchy back leg

I would have him on crate rest for a few days.... and then see how it is.... also like another poster said check toenails to make sure ....but a good 3-4 days of crate rest (no matter how much whining he does) if it is just muscular should help it out a great deal.
