Any idea what this is?

Ra's kept outside. We brought him in to see if kendra would tolerate other dogs around her litter (which she does YAY!). And his ears look like they're...decaying? I've noticed it before and just thought it was from the flies from keeping his outside... but his are much worse then our other dogs outside. Hes only been outside for about 4-6 months. Here's a pic

Has it been cold where you are? Could it be frostbite?

Yes it's gotten cold, but hes also outside with two other dogs his side. Wouldnt they be experiencing the same thing?

Not sure, I was just throwing ideas out. I think the only way to know for sure what it is to have it checked by your vet.

If the others aren't affected, maybe it's a fungal infection of some kind.

Maybe someone else has another idea.

Thanks for the help. We took him inside for the day and put aquaphor on the nasty looking spots and his ears got their color back... so it could just be the dry air is drying them out.. badly?
