Smelly pup

We have two dogs, a collie and a boxer, both about six and a half months old.

It seems that the boxer pup has had a stench to her, not just gas (which she experiences a lot more often than the collie), but just a body odor that we can't seem to do anything about. We have used doggie wipes (kind of like baby wipes I guess) and bathed her, but nothing seems to help. We have had her on puppy food and recently moved her up to adult dog food, and have used several different types of treats, but she still stinks.

Anyone happen to know if there is a special food, or special shampoo, or certain wipes or really anything that might help the smell of our dog. I'm not sure if this is something breed specific (as the collie doesn't have the issue), but if it helps we were told that our stinky pup is a "boxer mix" when she was adopted from the humane society.

Re: Smelly pup

Sometimes it can be food related or maybe fungal.

Re: Smelly pup

What kind of food is she eatting? Is she inches? Like is she chewing on her paws? Have you checked her ears for infections?

Re: Smelly pup

She doesn't chew on herself and her ears look fine. We brush our dogs teeth twice a week, clip their nails regularly and try to bathe them enough, but not so much as to dry out their coat (1 bath every 2-3 weeks or so).

She is eating Purina One Adult Dog Total Nutrition, Lamb and Rice. As far as treats go, we stick to dry treats and break them into small bits, she might go through 3 treats a day.

Re: Smelly pup

You could try adding a little coconut oil to their food. Maybe 1 tbsp/day. I don't think it would hurt. Could help.

Re: Smelly pup

Just my opinion... but it could be food related. Even if both dogs are eating the same food, each dog is different and the boxer might be reacting differently to the lamb. Try switching to a different formula of the same food or a better quality food for both dogs. It could help.
