Split Tail

My dog has a very happy tail and as a result she split it open about a week and a half ago. We went to an emergency clinic and had a couple staples put in and she was put on some antibiotics. A couple days ago our vet took the staples out and told us to keep changing the wrap everyday and put polysporin on it.

Today we were out and when we came back she had chewed off about 3 inches of her tail. I dont know what to do about this. Can anyone offer some advice???
