Update on Bubba Dawg

Hello,

Have been supper busy but I thought I'd post and let everyone know how Bubba is doing. He is about the same. We turn him like the vet said and get him up to stand as best he can several times a day. So far he's not had to spend any time alone between my husband, son, and me. I've got some diapers ordered but I don't know if they will be helpful. I bought him a pressure sensitive mattress to lay on and I am keeping him as clean as I can. Since he weighs 95 pounds I can't get him in the tub for a bath but I bought some spray on shampoo that has worked pretty well.

Currently he is on dog ibuprofen and a broad spectrum antibiotic. He was tested for lyme and erlychiosis (I don't know how to spell it) and it is neither of those diseases. The vet also doesn't think it is coon hound paralysis. Vet said if he isn't better in a couple of weeks he could reommend a neurologist in Memphis, so on Monday I am going to call and see if we can get an appointment. On Wednesday it will be 2 weeks since his symptoms began and Thursday will be the 2 week mark on his being down. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share.

Thanks so much for your concern and response to my posts. I really appreciate them and so does Bubba Dawg. He's the best and I am trying hard to take good care of him.

Pamela

Re: Update on Bubba Dawg

Hey, thanks everyone for thinking of us. My heart is breaking; it is so hard to see him unable to do anything for himself other than eat and drink. He is so embarrassed when he voids that he tries hard not to, and it just kills me to see him so miserable. This must be the heartbreak that goes along with the love. I think he may be a little worse today; I've tried to get him up on all fours twice today and his hind legs have simply given out.

Anyway, I am trying to be as positive as I can, especially in his presence. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers. I am praying for wisdom to take care of him the best way possible. I will post tomorrow and let everyone know how things go with the neurologist appt.

thanks again,

Pamela

Poor Bubba.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Bubba.

It's not easy when our pets are sick and we can't get an answer as to why. You're doing a good job with him. I hope everything works out for Bubba.
