Question trying to poop, but too timid??

hi,

I have a mini doxie.

(below is some background info)
Quote:
she is very timid, and usually gets scared and wants to go home while we are walking around if she hears something a bit loud (a car passing by) or sees someone walk by etc.

she was on antibiotics (2 of them) + otomax for the last 10 days (i don't know if this is relevant).

She usually poops 2-3 times a day. But after starting on antibiotics, she first became a bit constipated for 2-3 days, then her stool became loose. After her antibiotics treatment is over, her pooping became normal again, but she behaves a bit weird from time to time...
Sometimes, even though she pooped once or twice that day, she wants to go out, and when she does, she acts as if she will start pooping (she lowers her bottom), but she quickly changes her mind and either pees or just goes on walking around...

Also, she became a bit whiny in the last few days... She grumbles time to time, something she didn't used to doo that much...

Do you have any ideas about what might be some of the potential problems? I'm not sure if she needs to go to the vet, and even if we go, I have no idea what I want them to look for...

I'd like to look up a few probable illnesses before going to the vet. For now, I'm not even sure if this is just the side effects of the antibiotics, or her getting spoiled to much

Thanks a lot

Re: trying to poop, but too timid??

I am not sure. Maybe from the change in her stool, her bum is a little irritated, so she is hesitant to poop? Antibiotics can cause all sorts of tummy upset. Have you thought about feeding her some unflavored yogurt or probiotic enzymes to get her tummy back on track? I have read that the cultures can help regulate the tummy after antibiotic treatments. Good luck
