WOW! Stinky breathe all of a sudden

When puppies are teething, which mine just noticabley began the past few days, do they have bad breath? Its not bad like rotten smelling, its bad like INTENSE doggie breath so I thought it might be related to teething perhaps?

First check his teeth carfully to make sure you don't have an infection setting in. The other thing I've heard is that puppy breath is cause by....worms. So if pup hasn't been wormed lately you may want to take a stool sample in for a look.

Nope. Been on the same food for months. she has her spay appt. next Wed. so I am adding it to the list of things to check out. Its funny though that she is coincidentally teething as well. She lost a molar last night at training class!

YES, dogs have bad breath when they are teething. Since she is going to the vet anyway they should rutinely check her mouth at every check up. How old is the pup that she is already getting spayed but just starting teething? Back on topic, it is amazing just how bad there breath gets durring this, but it clears up when finished. Doggie breath mints help. When the teeth are coming out they get nasty and can hang on looking dead, etc. Usually teething toys help the process, they like ice cubes durring this also. If one really seems to be hanging on and really looks nasty it will probably come out with very little pressure if you grab it. If your not up to that, it will probable come out on it's own.

Well, Lilly is 5 months old and is a 5 pound Papillon. It is possible that she has been teething for longer & maybe swallowed the smaller teeth but I only recently found a molar that came out at training and she got one of my sandals before I could get to her and left a little spot of blood from her mouth & it appears that she has a harder time crunching up her little cookie treats. Maybe its more noticable b/c its her molars going now and the little teether happened earlier?? Her bad breath has decreased a little bit, but not as bad. When she gets spayed she will be 5 1/2 months. I was told to spay her between 5 and 6 months & so went right down the middle.

I have looked in her mouth and her teeth that are there are white and healthy. Her gums look healthy as well.
