Dog just isn't acting right

We will be taking him to the vet for a quick little check up later today, but wanted to know if anyone else had this problem.

Wednesday Bullet went in for all his shots. He's 2 years old and 90 pounds of pure muscle and puppy love. We know for sure he is border collie and blue healer. Don't know what else for sure.

Anyway, Wednesday he didn't seem to be affected by the drugs, other than a little tired, which I thought was from his walk. Yesterday (Thursday) he seemed rather normal in the morning, and on our walk. But when we came home from our walk, he started acting a little strange. He was tired, but he always is, but wouldn't do his commands. I had turkey for him and told him to lay down. He refused to lay down. He would sit, or shake, but not lay down. He choose to go to his kennel. He did lay down on his own, but not on command.

Today he seems really out of it as well. Is it still from the shots? I don't think eating a little bit of snow would cause this to happen.

Have his Thyroid checked. It sounds a little like one of my dogs. She was a fantastic obedience dog and then one day she started to look at me like she was not quite sure what I was asking her to do. I would suggest a blood panel. If it is a Thyroid, it is easy and relatively inexpensive to treat. A simple pill each day. Hopefully, he is just mad at you for getting him shots. LOL You know your dog, if you feel something is wrong then push the vet to look closely. He might not seem odd to them at all.

Orange County Ca is an unknown quantity at this point

I'd certainly give it time for any side effects of the shots to wear off before going off on any searches for the problem. Maybe a month? Ask the Vet.

I wouldn't wait a month, I'd have him checked ASAP. HAve a full panel taken and specifically liver kidney function. If he is having a reaction, there are herbal remedies that can help support the immune system respond to the toxins produced by the vaccines and help the liver clear them from the body.

Look up Vaccinosis.

I don't want to scare you but there can be problems especially when multiple vaccines are administered at the same time.

Here's some links:

I've stopped yearly vaccines for all my dogs and completely for my two older.(with my vets agreement and approval) I'll only vaccinate them now if we move back to Canada for the trip, and then only the minimum required to get them there. Good luck with your dog and keep us updated.

Re: Dog just isn't acting right

Well, yesterday we took him on a road trip to Cannon City (about 2.5 hour drive) He acted a little strange in the jeep. Normally we can't keep him seated, and whenever we hit a stop light, he stands up thinking the trip is over. Yesterday he stayed down most of the trip. Rather odd I thought.

THen we went to a friends house with 3 other dogs, and 3 hyper boys. He didn't seem odd in any way there. He was very active, and loved all the attention, except from one of the puppies. Wasn't sure what to do when they would nip at his ears, or tail.

Today he's a bit slow again. He does react to our commands, and seems energetic when it comes to walks and such, but around the house he appears to be slow and not so curious as he use to be.

Vet said it's noting serious and if it doesn't clear up by Monday to have him checked, which we will.

I know we have to do rabies here in Denver, that's kind of required, and with raccoons in the neighborhood, a good idea. Plus we go hiking and camping a lot in the summer we want to make sure he has his lime shots because the ticks up here can be mean. But I will check out the web sites and decide if we are going to do this all again next year. Thanks for the advice.
