sludgey gall bladder

i have a 11 year old gsd with an sludgey and enlarged gall bladder. we consulted a gall bladder specialist at the university of pennsylvania who repeated an ultrasound. he doesn't think it's getting worse, so he recommends watching it rather than removing it.

apparently, there are lots of polyps growing on the inner wall of the organ.

he's on actigall, but it doesn't seem to do much. we're now trying alternative methods like homeopathy and acupuncture to see if we can improve his condition.

i'd be interested in hearing similar experiences from other people.

thanks!

Look into Milk Thistle which can thin the bile and help the liver. Also check out tumeric, burdock, and astragalus. I've used all of these with good results on my dogs. Don't use any of these with out consulting with a holistic vet or doing a lot of research. Also Yucca which can help increase intestinal absorption of nutrients.

Re: sludgey gall bladder

thanks for the suggestions i'll mention them to the holistic vet and do some research. we are currently using some rain forest herbs okayed by the vet.

do you have any experience with cynara scolymus leaf, phyllanthus niruri herb, peumus boldus leaf, baccharis genistelloides leaf and stem, boerhaavia diffusa herb, marsdenia cundurango vine bark, stachytarpheta sp leaf, or solanum paniculatum leaf?

thanks again!

No, I've never heard of any of those herbs. I had great luck with milk thistle after liver damage from and accidental drug overdose and TBD. I've also used all the other herbs I mentioned extensively with my dogs. I f you're intersted in alternative/complementary medicine, I recommend you look into getting the books:
Herbs for Pets
Natural Health Bible for Cats & Dogs

I have a lot more than just those two but they are the 2 I keep going back to over and over in my continuing fight against TBD.
