Let me rephrase what I said... Science Diet isn't a very good food for a lot of dogs. I am sure that some dogs do quite well on a mainly corn-based diet. I used to work at Petsmart, and a lot of people fed Science Diet to their dogs. However, I know of a lot of people who have had terrible luck with Science Diet, which caused a whole range of problems. Even though I prefer foods with a high protien content for my dog (she thrives on them) I am sure that other people's dogs thrive on many other types of foods out there. I am not a fan of the ingredients in science diet, but hey, to each his own. Talking about dog food is almost like talking about politics. Many different ideas, and many people are very passionate about how they feel. I just gave my 2 cents. Dilsky, it is up to you to try different foods and figure out what your dog does best on. Their are tons of articles on the subject. My favorites are EVO and Orijen, mixing both can and kibble. I am sure others feel differently. Monitor your dog's coat and monitor your dog's stools (the less that comes out the back end, the more nutrients the dog is actually absorbing into his body.) When you find something that makes you happy and your dog happy, stick with it (or rotate with other foods... again, everyone has different opinions.)

It's a very confusing subject, and you'll never find a consensus on the matter.
