Re: losing hair

He may have allergies to his food and scratching himself on stuff to relieve the itch. Does he bites his legs and tail after he has eaten?

Re: losing hair

Hair Loss could be from a fungal infection. You need to take him to the vet so they can do some tests.

Re: losing hair

I would recommend taking the dog to the vet so they can run some tests. Hair loss could be caused from many different medical issues. Fungal infections, parasites like mites, thyroid problems, allergies, immune system disorters ( from bad breeding genetics), cancer, ect can all cause hair loss in chihuahuas. Please take your pet to the vet.

Re: losing hair

The same exact thing happened to my neighbors chi about 2 years ago. She was going bald, only on her head. I ended up taking the little girl to the vet because my neighbors cease to believe that it was necessary to go to a vet. It did end up being a very bad Fungal infection. The vet stated that it is very common on Chi's that come from a poor breeder (or genetic background) and said that it can start at the head and over take the whole body. I paid for all the treatment and did all the post care... I didnt even get a thank you... all I got was "Why did'nt you just have her put to sleep so you didnt have to waste your money?" Uhhhggg, and this is their dog they are talking about.

I suggest you take the dog to the vet soon.
