Inflammatory Bowel Disease

So, today I took little Pippa to a 2nd vet. She felt that our vet has been very thorough so far with treatments and recommendations. (just to update... Pippa is my 8 month old yorkie that has had chronic diarrhea for the last 4 months) 2 weeks ago when I had went to our vet to get the newest food trial, they weighed her for me... 4lb. 11oz, an ounce more than what she was at her last weigh in. Well today, she weighed in at 4 lb. 8 oz., 3 oz. loss in 2 weeks. This new vet, though a bit stumped, is going to research some things and let me know tomorrow if we should run more tests or refer us to a specialist. Pippa's poop has been tested over and over and always comes back negative. It sounds like she slightly suspects Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the only way to be sure is a colonoscopy... I have felt guilty all this time because this all started after I brain farted and did a sudden food change with my dogs, something I never do, but my other one was itching like a mad dog and I was trying to feed them both the same food. I have TOTALLY learned my lessen about food changes!!! I always do it gradually, but didn't that time.
Has anyone dealt with this IBD?
And the vet did send Pippa home with another round of flagyl and some FortiFlora powder stuff.
I swear when she has a real terd, I'm throwing a party!!

Re: Inflammatory Bowel Disease

I was wondering if her stools improve with this medication, is it most likely not IBD? It's too early to tell, but her morning drop seems a little bit better. And I am trying the FortiFlora, which is new for her. Also, not sure if it makes a difference, but the Flagyl they gave me looks a lot differnt. They're actally big pills that had to be cut into 1/6, probably just looks different becase it's a different dosage? I hope this time will work!

I have had issues with IBD in one of my dogs...... I would love to help but I am swamped right now if yo ucan hold until friday I will happily take a break from grading exams and answer this in more detail ..... the answer to your question is that the medication will take care of the stools but she can still have IBD
