Throwing up-Boston

Does anyone here know if throwing up is really all that common among Boston Terriers? My Boston, Bella, has been doing it since the day we got her. She had an upper respiratory infection when we got her . . .and originally I thought it was the medicine . . .then I thought it was over eating/drinking. I've asked my vet about this before (and he's very good . . .he also has Bostons) and he said that wasn't all that uncommon in the breed . . .that his will do that at times too.

The problem is, it's gotten out of control. I don't exercise her right after she eats, cause she'll throw up . . .I try to regulate the amount of food she gets, cause she'll throw up, if she drinks too fast, she throws up. It seems like we're constantly cleaning this mess up. She'll turn right around and eat it too . . .so it's not like there's a loss of appetite . . .and no, I don't let her eat it, but sometimes there's so little that it's gone by the time I get the stuff to clean it.

Today, my husband calls me after having her out of the crate for only an hour at most. He said, "I can't take this. Bella's going back in her crate. She's already thrown up three times again . . .two times on the carpet. Every time I turn around she's throwing up! It's just watery with a few pieces of food like normal, but I've barley had her out an hour!" (We only have carpet upstairs, so most of the time this isn't an issue)

I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and ask about this again. I can understand it happening every once and a while, but this is ridiculous. She acts perfectly normal otherwise too . . .eats, sleeps, plays, drinks.

Any ideas?

I have no idea what could be going on with your Boston, but that is not normal for any breed. Since this is a problem that has been continuing for quite a while with no answers you may want to consult with a specialist, maybe they can figure out what's going on with your girl.

I might have to . . .not what I wanted to hear though. I'm hoping our normal vet will figure it out. We just got our Boxer back to good health . . .or I should say healthy cause since we've had him he's been sick. . .and that round of specialists was really expensive and time consuming. I guess this will teach me to get a dog from a pet store though. UGH.

Megaesophagus is what another forum is saying it is likely to be. Anyone here know about this?

Re: Throwing up-Boston

I have to diagree about it not being normal. I have 7 Bostons of my own foster many Boston it is very normal . My girl Padamay will vomit at any time for any reason she even vomited on my sons head as he was sitting on the floor in front of the chair she was sitting in . She just vomits and then eats it or one of the other Bostons eat it before you can get it cleaned up . There is no reason they do it I think it may have to do with there short nose and sinus problems . Padamay dosent do it as much as she used to she is 1 1/2 years old but it still happens they all do it . To live with a boston is to love them for all the wired things they do. As long as she is healthy just go with it .
