Odd symptoms...should I worry?

Last night Jill started to seem a little tired, nothing to really be concerned about. I haven't been feeling well, and took her out around 9 to potty before bed. She didn't go, so we went back in and put her in her crate for the night. Now usually I put her up around 1030 or so, but I could not stay up any longer and everyone else was in bed. Got up about 10 minutes later then normal(620) this morning and as my daughter was letting her out of her crate she noticed Jill had peed on her bed. She hasn't had an accident in her crate since we got her 2 months ago. Jordan took her out and she said she peed as soon as she got outside, but no poo.

Fast forward to 1020 when we go for our walk(and take other daughter to bus stop). She was very slow on the walk to the bus stop(1/3 mile). On the way back I went straight home, and she didn't seem to care. If I stopped walking she laid down. I took her out again around 12 and she peed again, but no poo. If she doesn't poo in the morning then she normally will on our walk.

She's still going up the stairs, jumping on and off the couch with no problems, and walking around(just slowly).

Her appetite has also thrown me for a loop. She has barely shown an interest in her dry food(she also gets canned) since coming here. She cleaned her bowl this morning! She's NEVER done that. I put a bit more in and she ate that right up as well. She is still drinking, and watches my hands for treats if she thinks I might have one.

The only thing different is I used a new flea treatment on her yesterday. It's called Promeris(sp?) I got it from my vet last time after letting them know that the Frontline wasn't working. I have called them, they say it doesn't sound like an emergency and I can either wait and see or bring her in. Any opinions? If she doesn't improve(or worsens) I'll definitely be taking her in before they close tonight.

It could be the flea treatment....but was wondering about a uterine infection, just from some of the symptoms you menioned...glad you are taking her to vet's, a check would be in order.

Blood work wouldn't hurt either. Good luck!

I agree that it could be the flea treatment. Shelties tend to be especially sensitive to medicines. I have seen metaflumizone (the other name for promeris) on a list of medicines that shelties may be sensitive towards.

Re: Odd symptoms...should I worry?

Couldn't get her into the vets last night so we went today. I didn't want to take her anywhere near the emergency vet clinic in our area. They are completely incompetent.

So they couldn't find anything wrong with her(waiting on blood work results), and it does seem it was the flea treatment. It appears she scratched at it and then licked it off her paws. It works like a sedative and slows the heart/resp rate and causes drowsiness. So I won't be using that brand again! I've frontlined her with no problems...other then it doesn't kill the fleas. So I guess the next one to try will be Advantage. She spends so much time outside she has to have something to protect against fleas/ticks.
