mini daschund skin discoloration

Hey ya'all,

I'm new here so if this is already somewhere else, please point me in the right direction.

My mini is 3 years old, This was never a problem until this summer. I happened to pick her up and looked at her chest, it was red, bumpy, irrated looking, and had a dark brown or black discoloration. I took her to the vet and he said it was allergies, gave her a cortizone shot, and I left. That was 6 months ago, and its still there. Any idea? If need be, I can take a couple pics and post, but it will have to wait until tomorrow!! Thanks guys.

Re: mini daschund skin discoloration

Certainly given time the vet would be able to determine what the problem is... I thought I'd mention that we have a pug (Violet) with a 'yeast' infection. This infection can make the skin turn a dark color. She also has 'itching'. When her belly itches she'll rub it on the carpet - making little red bumps. There are many different symptoms that yeast can bring. I'm sure your vet and/or dermatologist can talk through with you... try not to get discouraged, it can be frustrating at times...let me know how things unfold!
